Hyderabad, India – A recent controversy involving sacred offerings at a famous temple in Andhra Pradesh has caused anger among Hindus, raising questions about the state’s religious and political situation.

Advocate and public speaker Sai Deepak shared his thoughts in an interview, comparing the current issue to the 1857 revolt, when cow fat used in weapons led to a major uprising. He noted how today’s Hindu community seems less active in responding to similar disrespectful actions.

Incident at Tirumala Temple

The problem started at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), one of the holiest places for Hindus, when reports surfaced that non-vegetarian items, such as beef fat and fish oil, were used in temple offerings. This deeply upset many believers. Sai Deepak believes that Hindus need to do more than just express outrage online.

At the very least, Hindus should peacefully take to the streets to show their concern,” he said, stressing the need for public action.

Changing Demographics in Andhra Pradesh

Deepak also highlighted the growing issue of religious conversion in the state. He explained that since 2004, many missionaries have been actively trying to convert Hindus, especially in coastal areas.

Missionaries can be seen roaming the streets, asking Hindus to change their religion. This is happening in Andhra Pradesh, a state with a rich Hindu heritage,” Deepak said, adding that the situation has worsened under recent state governments.

Criticism of Political Response

Sai Deepak criticized political leaders for using such issues to gain political points instead of addressing the root problems. While there have been some steps to limit foreign funding for religious conversions, Deepak argued it’s not enough. He called for stronger laws against forced conversions.

Anti-conversion laws need to be taken seriously if we want to protect the identity of this country,” he said.

Freeing Temples from State Control

Another major issue Deepak discussed was the control of Hindu temples by the state. He argued that temples should be managed by the Hindu community rather than the government.

State control of temples is part of a bigger problem,” he said. “But we should also focus on why the Hindu community is not reacting strongly enough.”

Bigger Challenges Ahead

Sai Deepak’s comments highlight not only the specific incident at the TTD Temple but also larger challenges that Hindus in Andhra Pradesh face. He warned that if Hindus do not take stronger actions, both socially and politically, the state’s religious makeup could change dramatically.

While the temple controversy has sparked anger, Sai Deepak emphasized the need for long-term solutions to protect Hindu culture and beliefs in Andhra Pradesh.
